New & Beautiful Disney California Adventure Web Site

With all these attractions openings all around the world i almost missed this and i'm glad that i finally didn't as the new website specially designed for the re-opening of Disney California Adventure is simply beautiful!

And not only the visuals are gorgeous but the 3D effect done with a new technique in websites design is extremely cool. Basically, it looks like each image has multiple layers which are "moving" when you scroll down. You can have a look at the visuals below with the screen captures but of course you won't have the multi-plans effect that you have on the DCA website HERE ...on which i strongly suggest you to jump as in addition to all this you also have cool slide shows for each DCA section.

WDI Imagineers Stories about Cars Land

There's nothing better than listening WDI Imagineers explaining their work, and when these are the one who built Cars Land you'll understand why you must not miss this 12 minutes video below!




Talking about Cars Land, Imagineer Tom Morris was the Creative Director on Radiator Springs Racer and on this next video from Inside the Magic you're invited to join him on Radiator Springs Racer while Tom gives a great commentary about the ride!




Tom did another and interesting video for GamerTV in which he depicts the creative process of Cars Land.




Finally, those who've been at DCA since its reopening may have notice that Disney California Adventure have a new "Welcome" spiel, and it sounds pretty good as you will hear in this video filmed by Mint Crocodile.




One more thing: you may have noticed that the DCA slide show header is no longer there. What happened is that the slide show file was apparently too "heavy" for Photobucket - because it was over 10 megas - and so they removed it!! If i find a way to put it back you can be sure that i will do it, and will let you know!

Great "Night and Day" Buena Vista Street Videos

These two new videos of DCA Buena Vista Street are great! One is filmed on day and the other one at night but i strongly recommend you to watch them. The one filmed on daylight is the first one which will show you Buena Vista Street after opening, so with plenty of people, what is a normal day now at DCA with 40000+ guests coming in daily. And what is great is that it looks now, with the "life" that guests are bringing in, like if Buena Vista Street had always existed! And the night video is a beautiful one, too, so don't miss them!

Buena Vista Street and Red Car Trolley Videos

So, the D&M coverage of the new DCA is going on today with a look at the new Buena Vista Street with some great videos. The two first videos are coming from ThomasTheImagineer and disney1218 and are a walk through in Buena Vista Street.







The next videos are from Andy Castro who did a great photo update yesterday on Mice Chat and it will take you on a trip down Buena Vista Street aboard the Red Car Trolley.

Buena Vista Street also include the first Starbucks Coffee Shop to open inside a Disney Theme Park. This Starbuck Coffee is located inside the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café and stick pretty well to the 1920s theme of Buena Vista Street.

Carthay Circle Theater Fountain Unveiled

You probably heard that the walls around the Carthay Circle Theater are down and although the Carthay restaurant won't open before June 15th at DCA each guest can discover this recreation of an old Hollywood iconic theatre in all its outside beauty. From what i can see, not being at DCA, the Imagineers did a pretty good job, the only thing that i don't like is this "Premiere Cuisine" title on the
front which, seen from a french point of view, sounds a bit ridiculous. It's also strange that they've been all that way to recreate the theater and then used 1950's plastic letters on a white plexiglas instead of the black rear lit letters that are true to period and classy.

Although they did a good job, as i've said, one big thing which existed on the original theater is missing, and it's the big neon sign that you can see on the picture below. There is no doubt that WDI Imagineers choose deliberately to don't reproduce it for esthetic reasons, and personally i think they were right as the sign would have been too big, visually speaking, for California Adventure.



But today, the new Carthay Circle Fountain was also revealed and Disney Parks released a short video to introduce it. Have a look!




Edited: A D&M reader left in the comments: "What a missed opportunity for DCA!!! Such a beautiful building ... and then only use it as a restaurant!?
Does anybody know why they didn't put an attraction in it? After all it is supposed to represent a theatre ... so it could have been the perfect place to show the great Cinémagique for the first time in a US Disney park".

I must say that it is an absolute brilliant idea. No other place in any other U.S Disney theme park could be a better choice than the Carthay Circle Theatre to introduce the wonderful Cinémagique attraction which is a tribute to cinema history! An attraction in tribute to Walt was envisioned for the Carthay and unfortunately cancelled, probably to reduce the costs of DCA placemaking.

New Imagineering Videos about Disney California Adventure expansion and WDW Fantasyland "Be Our Guest" Restaurant

Disney Parks just released two new Imagineering videos, and they will show you more about DCA expansion as well as the "Be Our Guest" restaurant inside the new Fantasyland at WDW. Let's begin by DCA which had the visit of Bob Iger and Tom Staggs who've tested all the new rides at Cars Land. Bob Iger also confirmed that the opening day of Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle Theatre will be June 15th - as revealed by Al Lutz some weeks ago - and that DCA will be entirely closed on June 14th for the media preview and to make the final preparations for the grand opening.



Let's take a look back at all the additions to Disney California Adventure with this first Imagineering video.




Next video is all about the "Be Our Guest" restaurant which will be located under Beast Castle at WDW New Fantasyland. "WDI Senior Concept Designer Ted Robledo presents the finishing touches on one of the restaurant major elements, i.e a massive mural that will serve as the restaurant’s backdrop. In the video Ted shows how WDI combined digital technology with traditional artistry to create a sweeping landscape that gives guests the feeling that they really are walking into a part of the film."
