Awaited " Poster Art of the Disney Parks " Book to be Released Next September !

I've announced it one year and a half ago and that's it, the awaited book about Disney Parks beloved attraction posters is expected to be released next september by Disney Editions! So far, the title of the book is "Poster Art of the Disney Parks" and the book will have an introduction by Tony Baxter. According to Amazon the book will be released on September 4 and, although Amazon don't take any pre-order yet, they've posted on the page this book presentation text that you can read below:

"Anyone who has ever walked through the gates at a Disney Park knows that there is a magical experience waiting to be had on the other side. All of the telltale signs are there: the sound of joyful music pipes across the promenade; the smells of popcorn and cookies waft through the air; and the colorful attraction posters depict all the wonderful rides and shows created for Guests by the Imagineers. Poster Art of the Disney Parks is a tribute to those posters, which begin telling the story of each attraction even before Guests have entered the queue area.

Disney attraction posters have been an important means of communication since Disneyland began displaying them in 1956. Not only are they eye-catching pieces of artwork that adorn the Parks with flair and style, they are also displayed to build excitement and disseminate information about the newest additions to the Disney landscape. When the first attraction posters made their debut at Disneyland, one such piece of art proclaimed that Guests could have a “true-life adventure” on the Jungle Cruise. And in 2012 at Disney’s California Adventure, a poster announced the grand opening of Cars Land—the newest thrill-filled destination at the Disneyland Resort. Both of those posters are reproduced within this book, along with posters from every decade in between.

As evidenced by the evolution of the attraction posters, art styles and design techniques have certainly changed over the years. These characteristics also differ from continent to continent. Posters from Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland exhibit the nuances in presentation that give each Park’s pantheon of posters its signature look. But while artistic interpretations and color palettes may vary from Park to Park and from year to year, the spirit of Disney storytelling is a constant that ties them all together."

Of course the book will include a selection if not all of the attraction posters designed for Disney Parks, including Disneyland Paris attraction posters which have never been available at DLP since the park's opening 20 years ago. So, as they've never been on sale at DLP stores no need to say that this new book will be highly awaited by all DLP fans. But as i've said the book will probably show attraction posters for all Disney theme park around the world and of course rare posters of now extinct Disneyland attractions like this one of Tom Sawyer Island...

...or this one of "Adventure through Inner Space".

I suppose we can expect to find also in the book WDW attraction posters of beloved rides, like this one of the WDW 20000 Leagues under the Sea ride...

...but also rare posters from Tokyo Disneyland like this one created for the Mickey Mouse Revue, an attraction not only extinct at WDW but also at TDL!

New posters especially designed for Hong Kong Disneyland should probably be in the book too, like this one for HKDL Space Mountain...

...or this other for the Tomorrowland StarLiner Diner Restaurant.

To come back to Disneyland Paris attraction posters let's hope that some of DLP great posters will be in the book, like this DLP version of the DL Big Thunder Mountain poster...

...not to mention DLP exclusive attraction posters like the one for Phantom Manor...

...or the great "Visionarium" poster, another beautiful one.

With a bit of luck we'll also find in the book some attraction posters concepts like this one for Disneyland Paris "Les Mystères du Nautilus" attraction. The attraction poster was never finalized but this rendering gives a good idea of how it would have looked.

I'll let you know when the book will be available for pre-order on Amazon, but in the meantime Disney parks fans should be happy to learn that a great book in tribute to Disney theme parks most beloved artwork is finally coming next fall.
